1-10V

Analog signal of variation via a dedicated control cable

Ampoule LED (Retrofit)

LED Source with a standard socket (E27, GU10), designed to replace old technologies while maintaining the original luminaire.

Anodisation

Specific surface treatment with aluminium that protects the material by anodic oxidation, allowing to obtain durable and aesthetic finishes (black, natural, gold).

Binning (ou MacAdam)

Process of sorting LEDs according to their color. We select very tight “bins” (Step 2 or 3) to ensure perfect uniformity throughout a project.

Branchement en Parallèle

Mounting used for LED strips (constant voltage). Each source receives the same voltage independently.

Branchement en Série

Assembly where the current passes through each LED one after the other (standard for constant current).  Attention: an interruption cuts the entire circuit.

Casambi

Wireless management system via Bluetooth, controllable by smartphone.

Classe d’isolation

  • Class I: Mandatory grounding.
  • Class II: Double insulation.
  • Class III: Very low voltage safety (TBTS), ideal for wet areas.

COB (Chip on Board)

Technology where several LED chips are mounted directly on a circuit. This allows for a single, very powerful and homogeneous light point.

Convertisseur (ou Driver)

Element transforming the mains current (230V) into a voltage or constant current suitable for LEDs.

Coupure de Phase (Triac/IGBT)

Classic variation system on existing wiring, ideal for renovation.

Courant Constant (mA)

Power mode (ex: 350mA, 700mA) ensuring stable brightness and avoiding overheating.

CRI / IRC (Indice de Rendu des Couleurs)

Ability of a light to reproduce natural colors. Our products display an IRC > 95, standard of excellence for luxury and museums.

DALI

Digital protocol for controlling and programming each luminaire individually in a smart building.

Finition Galvanique

Electrolysis process used to cover our brass parts with precious or protective metals (chrome, nickel, gold, copper).

Flux Lumineux (Lumen)

Total amount of light emitted by a source. Not to be confused with power (Watt).

IK (Résistance aux chocs)

Mechanical strength index of the luminaire.

IP (Indice de Protection)

Level of protection against solid bodies and liquids (e.g. IP65 for outdoor use).

Kelvin (K) / Température de couleur

  • Defines the lighting atmosphere.
2700K: Very warm white (residential atmosphere).
    3000K: Warm white (standard hotel).
    4000K: Neutral white (desks).

    Laiton Massif

Preferred material at Gandelin & Tekni-Led. Alloy of copper and zinc, it is valued for its nobility, durability and ability to receive unique handcrafted patins.

    LED (Light Emitting Diode)

Semiconductor electronic component transforming electricity into light. We integrate high-performance modules for maximum longevity.

    Optique

Lens or reflector placed in front of the LED to direct the beam (accentuation or ambiance).

    PUSH / Bouton Poussoir

Variation by long pressing on a classic switch.

    PWM (Pulse Width Modulation)

Gradation technique avoiding any flicker and maintaining color fidelity.

    Ruban LED (Strip)

Flexible circuit equipped with LEDs in series, used for indirect lighting or integration into profiles.

    Tunable White

Technology allowing the temperature to vary from white (from warm to cold) to adapt to the circadian rhythm.

    UGR (Unified Glare Rating)

Measurement of discomfort glare. A low UGR ensures optimal visual comfort.
